EGYPT: GREENFIELD CAR ASSEMBLY PLANT

For the local manufacturing of the Mercedes-Benz E-class the Daimler-Benz AG founded with egyptian partners the joint-venture "Egyptian-German Automotive (EGA)" in Sixth of October City west of Cairo.

Mr. von Polenz took over the project responsibility in April 2006 before the start of construction and founded the public company. He handed over the assembly plant running on full capacity middle of 1998. By local manufacturing the sales in Egypt were quadrupled with an return of investment in only two years.

The plant produces today three models of Mercedes-Benz and Mitsubishi.
