For a total volume of 4.7 million front- and rear axle differentials per year for Chrysler and Daimler Trucks the Mercedes-Benz passenger car technology "Fuel Economy Axle Differentials" was transferred on additional ring gear diameters, rigid beam axles and new front axles. For the product development, a new greenfield plant in Marysville Michigan and the extension of two german plants a budget of US$ 700 mil, therof US$ 500 mil in USA was approved.
After the change of ownership the Chrysler LLC changed technology and product strategy in the axle business to the tier1 supplier ZF. |
