USA: FIRST 5-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION INDUSTRIALISED

To save an own development by Chrysler and win time to the market a german automatic transmission was industrialised in the greenfield "Indiana Transmission Plant 2" in Kokomo. This first 5-speed torque converter automatic transmission manufactured in USA lauched in schedule 2003 with the new Chrysler 300C. Integrated manufacturing across the Atlantic with use of scale effects, transfer of technologies and processes and joint procurement of parts and machinery saved about US$20 per unit. Harbor Report and Chrysler LLC rate the ITP2 today to the best transmission plants in USA.
